These Russian dolls were made for export during the early Soviet period (first quarter of 20th C) and they represent the various regions of the USSR with the dolls outfitted in their typical regional costumes. The faces are traditionally silk stockinette fabric with details hand-painted, fingers moulded together and the doll is a standing figure.

The feet are encased in Lapti, the woven bast shoes worn by peasants. She has very pretty painted features with a lovely expression.
