This seven piece set of Russian nesting dolls depicts the young Romanov family. A portrait of each individual family member graces the body of the dolls - their name, written on the back: Nicholas, Alexandra, Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia, and Sleksey. The portraits themselves were painted in a watercolor-like fashion, the hues and values textured by the medium. The resemblance from siblings to parents is clearly emulated.
